The conference attracted approximately 63 guests. The majority of these guests were undergraduate, Master and PhD students (88.4%). We had 10 speakers give 15-minute presentations during the day event and 6 poster presenters. Our speakers came from a wide range of nationalities (including Chinese, British, Sri Lankan) and institutions in China (including Beijing Forestry University, Beijing Normal University, Institute of Zoology and Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Buea – Cameroon, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology).
We were honoured to have Dr. Zhu Chunquan, Country Representative for IUCN China, as our guest speaker for the event who gave a 30-minute talk at the beginning of the conference. In addition, Dr. Philip Riordan, Senior Researcher at Oxford University and Dr. Shi Kun, Director of the Wildlife Institute, Beijing Forestry University, gave 30-minute presentations during the conference. The guests covered a wide range of topics related to conservation in China including; An overview of conservation challenges in China, whether China's Protected Area network can co-deliver biodiversity conservation and sustainable human development goals and approaches to terrestrial ecosystem management using research on top predators.
