I joined WI in 2008 to pursue a MSc in Wildlife Conservation, one year after finishing my BSc in Bioinformatics at Shanxi Agricultural University. Since then, I have been mainly working on snow leopard (Panthera uncia) research and conservation in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China. I also conduct similar ecological research on other carnivores and ungulatesin the same study area. In addition, I am participating in other projects covering topics including wetlands and climate change, wildlife habitat recovery and protection in desert areas, and a Bactrian camel research and conservation project.
The Wildlife Institute’s Darwin Initiative project “Building capacity for wild felid conservation in China” started in 2010, and I serve as a Project Assistant. In the training sessions for nature reserve ground staff, I give “Techniques for surveying and monitoring wild felid” presentations and field training.
Research Interests Conservation biology, large carnivore ecology and conservation
